Nalsarovar bird sanctuary-Gujrat

Nalsarovar bird sanctuary is about 62 km from Ahmedabad. The best time to visit is December to March every year.To see the birds there one should leave Ahmedabad at 5 am to reach there at 6 am to see the Sunrise in the most natural atmosphere enjoying the camel cart ride which is the only means of conveyance. The ticket per person to visit the sanctuary is Rs.50/- The distance from parking to sanctuary is just a km which one can enjoy either as morning walk or a camel cart ride for Rs 5/- per head. Once you reach the sanctuary, you have to hire a boat for Rs.350/- per hour for 4 persons. The boat is driven by a bamboo stick as the water in the lake is very shallow, just 4-6 feet deep. The green algae in the crystal clear water of the lake is a fantastic experience. The birds especially the Australian seagulls entertain you when they dive to pick up the Namkeen that you throw in the lake. Nalsarovar is the delightful bird sanctuary nestling around the Nal Lake, extending over 11,500 hectares.
Established in 1969 A.D., it is known to harbour over 250 species of wetland birds. Nalsarovar sees winter migrants from the north that includes Rosy Pelicans, Flamingoes, White Storks, Brahminy Ducks and Herons.
A pair of binoculars and a person well-versed in the local bird life will surely make it one of your best outings.
